A History of our Church

In 1988, Rev. Terry Carver began having bible studies in the homes of a few area families.  At the time, Boone was a city with no representative of the Apostolic message, and the desire for a church in this area was growing.  After much prayer, the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ was established and began having services in a rented room above Boone Roller Skating.

After a few months in a rented office, the church was able to rent a vacant building adjacent to a real estate complex.  This was home to the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ for the next 3 1/2 years.  Many revivals were held during this time, and the church experienced growth.  Land was purchased in Vilas, a community about 5 miles outside of Boone, and construction soon began on a new church building.

The new facilities included a sanctuary, foyer, 2 sets of restrooms, 4 Sunday School rooms, office space, a fellowship hall with kitchen, and an evangelist's quarters. In October 1995, the new facility was officially dedicated to the Lord and a new era had begun.  The Lord continued to bless, and the church was able to pay off the mortgage in a special "note-burning service" in 2000.

God is still moving in a mighty way in Boone, North Carolina and the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ continues to be a force in this area, striving to fulfill our motto, being "founded on the Word, and focused on the world".
